Even though chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Sunday promised overall development of south Haryana, he accused local MP Rao Inderjit Singh of not focusing on the need of the people of his constituency.

Unleashing a scathing attack on Singh during his rally at Bawal, 40 kms from here, the chief minister said, “I am responsible for the development of the area and not of any individual.”

The rivalry between the two Congressmen has come out in open on several occasions in the recent past.

In an apparent reference to Singh’s allegation that the state government has been ignoring his constituency by not listening to the representative of local people, Hooda said that he does not need permission from any one to visit Bawal.

“I belong to Bawal and Bawal belongs to me. I belong to Rewari and Rewari belongs to me. Although many local leaders had been urging me to visit Bawal, I decided to come only when hundreds of common people of the area called on me to invite me to be with them,” he said.

The chief minister said that his government is considering setting up a university here on the demand of Rewari MLA Captain (retd) Ajay Yadav and people of the region.

While announcing several incentives for the region, Hooda said that he always keeps in loop all the representatives of the people, be it an MLA or an MP or a Sarpanch.

About the development of Bawal constituency, he said that as compared to Rs. 131.21 crore spent by Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) government, the present Congress government has spent more than Rs. 765.97 crore for various development works.

Also, in Rewari, the Indian National Lok Dal had spent Rs. 435.48 crore, whereas the present government has spent Rs. 3221.89 crore for the development of the district.

Chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda said that since the formation of Haryana, this area had remained backward. Therefore, the development work undertaken by the present government in the area has no parallel in the last 40 years. But, some leaders visit the area and mislead the people by making false promises to get votes.

The chief minister said that the policy of his government was to ensure overall development focusing on all sections of the society.
