Residents of DLF City Phase-2 are panic-stricken following a gunfire incident reported on Wednesday, even as all the iron gates of the locality were kept closed on Thursday in anticipation that the unidentified shooter was cornered inside.
The residents claimed that over the past few weeks a conman — suspected to be involved in the firing incident as well — had been tricking residents of DLF City Phase-2 to enter their houses and rob them.
The man, in his late 30s and wearing dapper clothes, enters people’s homes forcibly after knocking on their doors asking for the house owner. Following a series of similar incidents and the gunfire on Wednesday, a sense of fear is looming large over the residents of Q-2, K and L blocks.
Against this backdrop, the Gurgaon police responded to an attempted robbery complaint at DLF City Phase-2 on Thursday, but failed to nab the accused. “I received a call from my servant on Wednesday that an unknown person had attempted to loot the house. The man had rung the door bell and asked about me; we were in Delhi then. He was in shorts, T-shirt and bathroom slippers, and the servant thought he was from the neighbourhood,” said a resident.
Though the cops had closed all entry and exit gates of the locality on Thursday and planned to trap the miscreant, he managed to flee. And now, the residents fear moving out of their houses fearing another strike from the criminal.
Meanwhile, some residents had to plead with the security guards on Thursday to let them out to pick their children from the bus stop.
