The city police will deploy additional personnel on MG Road after sunset to curb law and order problems in the area. HT report on Tuesday said that the stretch has become unsafe for public, as anti-social elements rule the roost after 10pm.

Inspector Hardeep Hooda, SHO, Sector 29 police station, said, "We will keep a close watch on the people turning up in the night. Drunken men will not be allowed to roam around on the MG Road and create ruckus. The police will also launch drive against drunken driving."

No vehicles would be allowed to be parked after 10pm in the service lanes starting from Tuesday. Parking on roadsides is also prohibited, said the police official. The police propose to launch a crackdown on illegal parking on MG Road.

The police official said 2-am deadline for pubs would be implemented vigorously. "No eateries or pubs will be allowed to operate after 2am. Pub owners will be instructed not to allow entry of guests after 1am. No order for drinks should be entertained after 1.30am," said the police official.

Gaurav Roy, a BPO employee, said, "The MG Road can be a good hangout area if police crack down on anti-social elements who operate with impunity outside malls."

Due to safety issues on MG Road, many people organize their functions at the Golf Course area.
