A 24-year-old jobless man committed suicide by jumping in front of a Metro train at the MG Road Metro station in Gurgaon on Saturday morning.

The driver applied emergency brakes but could not save him. The train was going towards Rajiv Chowk in Delhi.

Police said he might have been suffering from depression.

The youth, Deepak Kumar of Rajiv Nagar, worked at his father’s electrical shop on Old Railway road. He had completed his class 10 and was looking for a job.

The family is from Biwani and was living in Gurgaon from the last 15 years.

Family members said he was depressed and was not interested in working with his father. He did not talk to anyone on Friday evening. He called his cousin on Saturday morning at 10am and told he wanted to visit him.

But Kumar went to the MG Road metro station and committed suicide, said police.

No suicide note was found from his possession. Police recovered a mobile phone from his pocket.

“He suffered fatal head injuries. We will get more details after the autopsy report,” said police.

ACP (DLF) Ramesh Pal said, “Services at the station was affected for 10 minutes. The bunching resulted in a 15-minute delay for trains operating on the route. The situation was normalized within half an hour”.
