The power distribution companies (discoms) in Haryana have expedited the recovery of dues from consumers.
The discoms have announced that 10% of the total amount recovered from erring consumers will be allocated as an incentive to the concerned sub division and the money will be spent on strengthening of power distribution infrastructure in the area.
The decision was taken in the operation review committee meeting of the Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (UHBVN) led by its chairman and managing director Devender Singh
Singh said that strenuous efforts were needed to recover money from defaulters by effecting permanent disconnection orders.
The discoms have already announced waiver in electricity bills for the benefit of domestic and tubewell consumers in rural areas.
Singh said that the department is also strengthening its complaint redressal mechanism. Now, discoms can register complaints sent by consumers through e-mail or SMSes.
A reference number will be given to them and the caller will also be informed about the action taken.
Emphasising on providing better services to the consumers, he said that it was necessary to promote accountability-based culture in discoms.
The employees will be rewarded or punished on the basis of their performance.
Referring to the ongoing work for augmentation of the distribution system, Singh said that work in urban areas is expected to finish by March, while in rural areas by June end.
