The district town planning department (DTP), Gurgaon, has asked the DLF City management to ensure rainwater does not enter the ground floor houses in Phase 1’s B Block.

The direction came following a meeting of a group of B Block residents and the members of Gurgaon Citizens’ Council (GCC) with senior town planner (STP) RK Singh in the wake of Sunday’s downpour that resulted in flooding of lanes in B Block.

The residents submitted a solution to the STP that included construction of dedicated culverts by the DLF to drain out rainwater from B Block to the nearest Haryana Urban Development Authority (Huda) storm water drain at Sector 28.

Though the STP refused to comment on the issue, a member of the GCC — which represents all licenced colonies — said that Singh is likely to take up the issue with Huda administrator Praveen Kumar.

“Since Huda is the custodian authority of the Sector 28 storm water drain, the administrator’s approval is a must for connecting the two drains,” said RS Rathee, president, GCC.

Representatives of DLF management were also present in the meeting held at the STP office in Sector 14.

The STP has directed the DLF management to clean the internal storm water drains and sewage lines. “We are ready to solve the water logging problem. DLF will follow whatever directions are issued by the STP,” said a DLF spokesperson.

Earlier on July 17, nearly 100 houses in DLF Phase III faced a similar flood-like situation.

“We hope the DLF would act as per the STP’s directions,” said Rathee.
