A 35-year-old woman has allegedly accused her physiotherapist of raping her from the last two-and-a-half months on the pretext of marriage.
A case was registered at the Sector 56 police station on Thursday.
The police said the complainant, a resident of Sector 56, alleged that Dr Uday Yadav (42) raped her on the pretext of marriage.
Yadav, resident of Rajiv Nagar, used to treat the woman for a psychological illness fibromyalgia — a syndrome wherein the person feels heightened pain due to psychological and environmental factors.
Yadav, who is married with a five-year-old daughter, allegedly treated the victim at her house. Over a period of time, the duo developed a sexual relationship.
The victim alleged that Yadav promised to marry her at a temple in Sector 54 on April 4.
However, on April 12, he denied making any such commitment. After a month-long tussle between the two, the victim approached the police and filed a complaint. The victim also alleged that Yadav developed sexual relations with her sometimes against her consent.
Yadav’s lawyer rubbished all allegations. “The victim is imagining the disorder. There was no promise of marriage,” said Satpal Yadav, the lawyer.
Meanwhile, Yadav has been booked under Section 376, IPC.
“The accused was arrested and sent to judicial custody,” said Maheshwar Dayal, joint commissioner of police.
