Members of the Exclusive Floors RWA met the commissioner of police, Alok Mittal, on Wednesday afternoon to lodge their protest against the ‘illegal’ demolition of the entry gate barrier of their residential complex on Tuesday.

RWA secretary Ravinder Singh told HT, “We tried to meet deputy commissioner PC Meena, but he was unavailable. The police commissioner, however, assured us of justice.”

“I listened to their grievances. As there are three parties involved — Lancer International School, district town planner’s office and the RWA, I will have to listen to all the versions. I have assured them that the guilty would not be spared,” said Mittal.

After Tuesday’s brouhaha, the police had assured that armed constables would be posted at the entry of the complex, but, a RWA member claimed that the police left after 11 in the night.

“Around 11.30 pm, three bike-borne youths came and gave life threats to our guards,” alleged Singh, adding, “They said they will shoot them.” The police was informed of the incident and a PCR was deputed.

RWA members also claimed that a head constable from the crime branch had visited to the guards and had asked them to furnish the details of the RWA members, but had refused to show any identification.

HT found out that the head constable was actually on an official visit for sending report to the DG CID in Chandigarh. “But he should have shown identification; how do we know who he was?” asked Singh.
