A 45-year-old man working with an IT company in Noida was brutally assaulted by eight miscreants on board a local train on Monday evening.
The victim, a resident of DLF City Phase-3, was headed towards Gurgaon and had to board the connecting train from the Hazrat Nizamuddin railway station.
The miscreants dragged the victim from the train before it could halt at the station and robbed his belongings, including ATM, gold rings, wallet and credit cards.
He was rushed to the AIIMS trauma centre where he is currently undergoing medical treatment.
The victim told Hindustan Times on Tuesday, “After finishing work, I boarded a train from Noida. At 6.30pm, the train halted briefly before Nizamuddin station. I was standing at the door and somebody grabbed and pulled me down. Before I could react, eight persons started assaulting me and asked me to hand over my belongings.”
The miscreants dragged me near a goods train and took me to a nearby jungle.
“They hit me with bricks and stones. I was assaulted and they snatched my wallet, ATM, credit cards and three gold rings. My mobile phone was also taken,” he said.
“The accused told me that there were two gangs operating in the area and said they were not worried that I would report the matter to the police,” the victim added.
The victim said the accused wanted to stab him but he managed to flee.
Meanwhile, a railways police official alleged the gang members had been arrested several times but were freed on bail.
