The Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway operator claims to have taken various steps to ensure smooth and safe passage of kanwarias.
A separate pedestrian pathway has been created for the devotees along the entire length of the expressway. The pathway has been cordoned off with a rope and barricades have been provided to ensure the safety of the pilgrims.
The firm, Delhi-Gurgaon Super Connectivity Ltd (DGSCL), also put up about 175 signboards along the expressway at crucial points so that commuters are aware of the Kanwar Yatra and they drive safely.
Special announcements will also be made on the public address system installed at toll plazas and messages would also be flashed on the variable messaging service systems along the expressway.
"Apart from the existing traffic marshals on the expressway, we are deploying an additional 50 personnel for the Kanwar Yatra to ensure smooth flow of traffic as well as the kanwarias. Special assistance is being provided at major crossings," said a spokesperson of DGSCL.
The operator's patrolling team has increased visits to key points along the route. Additional auxiliary power back-up is being provided to ensure the entire expressway is well lit during the night.
Provision has been made to provide first-aid at the two toll plazas. The corridor control team has been placed on high alert and in case of any emergency, the control room can be contacted round-the-clock on the toll free number 18001031700, said the spokeperson.
There will be around 400 home guards and traffic volunteers to assist the kanwarias this year.
