In yet another incident of road rage in the city, two persons were severely injured after being allegedly thrashed by a father-son duo following a minor accident.

The incident took place near Palam Vihar Chowk on Saturday evening. According to the police, the victims, identified as Hafiz Saeed and Maulana Mursalim, are the imams of a local mosque. Saeed and Mursalim were going towards Gurgaon bus stand on their bike. Near Palam Vihar Chowk, their bike hit a Corolla car from behind, the police said.

The accused, Udal Yadav and his son Naveen, had a verbal argument with the victims. Soon, the two started abusing the bikers. When Saeed opposed them, they allegedly attacked the bikers on their head and abdomen.

Saeed and Mursalim, who sustained severe injuries, fell on the ground. Then the accused fled from the spot, the police said. The victims, who sustained multiple fractures, were rushed to a nearby hospital. The police said that their condition was stable now.

Later, the city police arrested Udal and Naveen and they were produced in a city court on Sunday, but granted bail.

Following the incident, enraged family members of the victims, along with local residents, staged a protest outside Palam Vihar police station and raised slogans against the administration. Senior police officials pacified the protesters and assured them to take action against the culprits.

“We will get their medical examination done again to make the case strong against the accused on Monday from the civil hospital,” said Abhay Singh Rao, DCP (west), Gurgaon police. A case was registered at Palam Vihar police station on Sunday.
