Four people were arrested on Tuesday evening in connection with a youth's murder in Gurgaon on Monday night. Mohit Jhanghu, 22, was shot dead outside a Gurgaon cafe in the upscale Palam Vihar market on Monday night by his friends after an argument over some issue.
The killer, identified as Abhishek Dhaiya alias Nitu, hailed from Dhanwapur village near Gurgaon, and knew Jhanghu, a resident of nearby Daultabad village.
The police arrested Abhishek Dahiya, Bobby Dhaiya — both residents of Dhanwapur — Dipanker Kumar, a resident of Madanpuri, and Brijesh alias Noni, a resident of Sector 71. The police said one more assailant and an accomplice waiting in the car are yet to be arrested. The accused will be produced in a city court on Wednesday.
Police said they had a scuffle a few days back but became friends after other people intervened. The police said Mohit was killed as result of a personal enmity between him and Abhishek. They also said Abhishek Dhaiya was unhappy with Jhanghu’s closeness to the girl who was with Mohit on Monday night.
CCTV footage revealed a few people were standing outside the cafe when suddenly Nitu and his accomplice shot at Jhanghu and fled the spot.
Narrating the sequence of events, police said Mohit came to the café with his friend Saksham and the girl. After ordering cold drinks, the trio was chatting when Abhishek and his friends came there and started abusing them. When Mohit tried to tell him off, Abhishek allegedly threatened him. The matter soon escalated and an irritated Abhishek took Mohit to a corner of the café and fired three rounds from a 9mm pistol, leaving him dead.
Jhanghu was rushed to a hospital but doctors declared him dead. Dr Deepak Mathur, forensic expert, civil hospital, said, “There were three bullet injuries — one to the arm, second in the head and the third at chest. His brain, liver and heart were damaged,”
The culprits were arrested from Himgiri Chowk in Gurgaon by a crime branch team led by Jitender Rana.
"Two of them are college students, we are questioning them. They will be produced before a court on Wednesday," said assistant commissioner of police Rajesh Kumar.
During his interrogation on Tuesday night, mastermind Abhishek Dhaiya revealed he had also killed his wife last year and had thrown her body in water treatment plant. He along with his two friends had strangulated her. The other two died in a road accident on November 5 last year.
