The women of Millennium city can enjoy free travel in Haryana Transport Corporation buses on Thursday on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan.

According to Hrayana transport department officials, women along with their children up to the age of 15 years can avail this facility.

"They will be allowed free travel in ordinary buses of Haryana Roadways in Haryana and Delhi NCR area on August 2," an official said.

"The decision has been taken in the interest of women as that they could comfortably reach their brothers' places," he added.

Keeping in mind the heavy rush of passengers, Delhi Metro will run 160 extra trains on Thursday, and will deploy additional personnel to cater to the extra rush of commuters.

Over 20 trains, which are normally withdrawn from all the lines during off peak hours (from 12.30pm to 4.30pm), will be kept in service. All the trains combined will make a total of 2,900 trips on Thursday.

Moreover, extra staff will be deployed to handle the ticket counters. Metro ticketing staff at 93 stations will do 228 additional shifts of four hours each.

"The extra manpower will be deployed at major stations, including Huda City Centre Metro station," said a DMRC spokesperson.

Last year, around 17 lakh passengers travelled by Delhi Metro on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan.
