Slain gangster Sandeep Gadoli’s family members booked in connection with the murder of Manish Gujjar on Monday, are at large, police said on Wednesday.

Police have constituted five teams to track the accused.

Police suspect that the murder is the result of inter-gang rivalry. The six people booked in the case are Sandeep Gadoli’s siblings -- Bhram Prakash, Kuldeep Gadoli and Sudesh -- gangster Kaushal, his brother Manish and aide Amit Daggar.

“The Gadoli family is absconding. We have constituted teams to nab the accused. We will get a lead soon,” Sumit Kumar, deputy commissioner of police (crime), said.

Manish, alias Pappu,42, the elder brother of former Gurgaon councillor Binder Gujjar, was shot dead by a group of 10 unidentified gunmen near new colony on railway road on Monday night .

Based on the complaint registered by Manish’s father Karan Singh, police registered an FIR at City police station against six identified people and several others under sections 302 (murder), 307 (attempt to murder), 120 B (criminal conspiracy), 148 (armed rioting), 149 (unlawful assembly) of the Indian Penal Code and sections of the Arms Act.

The complainant told police that Gadoli’s family had threatened to avenge his murder by Diwali during his cremation in Gurgaon on September 2. The youngest of Gujjar brothers, Manoj, is one of the accused booked by Mumbai police as a conspirator in the alleged encounter of Sandeep Gadoli at a Mumbai hotel on February 7.

Manish, a liquor trader, was going to collect cash from one of his liquor vends in his Hyundai Creta when he was attacked. He ran 32 liquor shops with the name ‘Shiv Shakti Wines’ across Gurgaon.

Police said, at least 18 rounds were fired at the SUV in which Manish and two others were travelling. Eight bullets hit Manish.

Manish’s younger brother Binder Gujjar, a rival of slain gangster Sandeep Gadoli, is serving a term at Bhondsi jail in connection with murder of a property dealer Raju Sethi on November 10, 2015. Binder’s driver Ashok Kumar was shot dead on October 4, 2015 allegedly by Gadoli’s men.

Two injured stable

The two persons injured during the attack of Manish Gujjar on Monday night are out of danger, hospital sources said on Wednesday.

The injured are Manish’s driver Suhkbir and friend Liyakat Ali. Both of them are undergoing treatment at Medanta - The Medicity. They will require a plastic surgery before being discharged, the source said.

A bullet hit Ali in his leg. The surgeons were able to remove the bullet and the patient has responded well to the treatment. He’ll be discharged on Thursday, the source said.

The bullet that hit Sukhbir was removed in a surgery near his stomach. It is too early to decide a recovery period or discharge date for him and he is being monitored, the source said.

“The best possible treatment is being given to both the patients,” he said.
