Guest house owner rapes 19-year-old woman in Gurgaon

A 19-year-old woman was allegedly raped by the owner of the guest house where she was staying in Jharsa village near Gurgaon Sector 31 on Thursday.

A 19-year-old woman was allegedly raped by the owner of the guest house where she was staying in Jharsa village near Gurgaon Sector 31 on Thursday.

A case of rape was registered against the accused at the women police station, Sector 51, on Friday after the medical examination of the victim confirmed rape.

The statement of the girl was recorded by the duty magistrate under section 164 of CrPC on Friday, police said.

The police said victim is a resident of Ludhiana, Punjab and had taken a room at the guest house for Rs 15,000 per month.

ACP(Sadar) Dharna Yadav said, “We received a call and a team from Sadar police station and women police station rushed to the spot. The victim alleged that the owner of the property Dharampal Thakran tried to get friendly with her and raped her on November 23 and 25 while she was alone in the building”.

The accused owns three guest houses in Gurgaon and is a real estate agent too, said police.

The victim alleged that Thakran often tried to get friendly with her and discussed about her future plans. She was looking for a job in the city and he raped her on pretext of getting her a good job and package at a friends’ company in Gurgaon, said police.

The others rooms are rented out to the medical patients undergoing treatment at private hospitals in Gurgaon.

The victim was rushed to Civil Hospital where the medical examination confirmed rape.

“The victim did not give clear details of her own background but we took prompt action and registered the case after she raised an alarm. We are conducting raids to arrest the accused,” said Yadav.

The victim refused to give any details of her family, police said.
