To check the rising number of cases of illegal prenatal sex determination, the district administration of Gurgaon has conducted nine raids across the city since May.
Of these, six raids have been successful and the teams have been able to apprehend the culprits.
Deputy commissioner of Gurgaon TL Satyaprakash said on Friday that such raids will continue across the city in future.
In the latest raid that was conducted this week on Thursday, three touts were arrested by a team from the health department and the city police and Rs 25,000 seized.
The team used a decoy patient to nab the culprits conducting the test.
Though the doctors managed to flee from the spot, the team was able to arrest the touts.
A decoy patient met an agent, who took her to two other agents. These agents took the decoy patient to a clinic in Bakerwar village in New Delhi where the ultrasound was to be conducted at a private centre.
An FIR was been filed against the six persons under Section 23 of the Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (PCPNDT) Act, 1994.
“None of the raids have led to any specific rackets yet but ,all the raids were conducted on the outskirts of the city,” said drug control officer Amandeep Chauhan.
A team headed by civil surgeon of Gurgaon Dr Ramesh Dhankar has been conducting the raids.
The members include Amandeep Chauhan, drugs control officer, Gurgaon, deputy civil surgeon Dr Saryu Sharma and district secretary of Red Cross Shyam Sunder.
Initially, the members of the team were of the opinion that such raids are difficult to conduct since they involve intra-state and city issues. Also, it is difficult to track down people.
