Agitated over two-year delay in completion of the project, nearly 200 buyers of Uniworld Garden-2, an upcoming 16-tower residential project in Sector 47, staged a protest at Unitech House in South City-1 on Saturday.
“We were promised possession way back in September 2011, but we haven’t got our flats yet,” said an angry buyer.
Another buyer, a woman, said, “We are paying thousands in rent and thousands in EMI against the loan that we took for the flat. The completion has always been postponed and now they are saying that approach road is a problem.”
Earlier, Unitech had issued a letter to each buyer saying that the encroachment of Huda land which leads to Uniworld Garden-2 was causing the delay. This space was to provide the approach road to the project.
“We would like to assure our customers that we are doing everything possible to expedite the completion and delivery of the property. The delay is beyond our control as the surrounding land is encroached upon by some squatters. The encroached land belongs to Huda and we are trying to vacate the encroachment,” said a Unitech spokesperson.
“We have asked Unitech to finish the work by Diwali. We met the police commissioner and he assured us that he would take action,” said one of the aggrieved buyers.
