With the lowering temperature in the city, the health department has geared up and set up an exclusive ward for patients infected with Swine flu at the civil hospital. The hospital authorities mentioned that as the winters are arriving, the H1N1 virus starts getting active.
There has been a 3 to 5 degrees drop in the minimum temperature of the city, noted the weatherman.
“The cases of swine flu will start coming as the temperature comes closer to 20 degrees Celsius. We are taking all the steps to ensure that maximum people can be reached out to and treated in the least amount of time,” said Chief Medical Officer, Pushpa Bishnoi.
The department also plans to start an informative campaign in order to make the people aware and informed about the deadly disease. The doctors noted that most of the people remain unaware that the disease spreads through shaking hands or touching infected objected and then touching their mouth, nose or eyes without washing the hands.
“The patients with chronic respiratory problems including bronchitis, asthama, pregnant women and elderly have higher chances of contracting the disease. They should particularly be careful of not touching their eyes, mouth or nose without sanitising their hands,” said Dr Satyavir Siroha, district malaria officer, Gurgaon.
