A 25 year-old driver of one of the Gurgaon councillor was shot dead in Gurgaon by unknown persons in the wee hours of Sunday while he was returning home.
His body was found lying in a pool of blood in his Maruti Swift car on Basai Road. There were bullets shot on the car too.
The deceased was identified as Ashok Kumar, who is said to be close to municipal councillor Binder Gujjar of ward no 16. He was a resident of Arjun Nagar and worked with Gujjar as a driver and his gunmen.
On Saturday late night, he dropped two of his friends around 2am and at 6am, the Gurgaon police control room received information that a car parked on the Basai Road has bullets shot on it and a man is shot dead inside, said police.
Gurgaon Police then rushed to the spot and sent the body for post mortem.
Within few hours of the murder, another firing incident took place in Arjun Nagar, Gurgaon. Manish Khurana who was allegedly involved in the shootout was attacked and is undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Sector 38 as his condition is critical.
Khurana is a close associate of Sandeep Gadoli, said police.
According to the police, fifteen days back, Khurana had complained against Binder Gujjar for threatening and attempt to murder.
The councillor was also shot at five years ago when he had contested for the elections, said police.
Navdeep Singh Virk, Gurgaon commissioner of police, said, “All the crime units and SHOs are alerted of the incident. Efforts are being made to identify the assailant while murder and attempt to murder cases are closely under investigation. All the teams are alerted and soon, we will arrest the accused”.
