Gurgaon: Five-year-old sexually abused by juvenile neighbour, accused held
The rape-accused juvenile was picked up from a friend’s place at Kanhai village in Gurgaon’s Sector 45gurgaon Updated: Jun 20, 2017 23:29 IST
A five-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her juvenile neighbour in Kanhai village near Sector 45 on Saturday. A case was registered on Monday night at Women police station in Sector 51 and police arrested the accused around 12.30 pm on Tuesday.
This incident came to light on Tuesday, two days after a seven-year-old was allegedly raped in Dundahera (on Sunday).
The five-year-old was medically examined and is stable, the police said. The 16-year-old accused has been sent to the juvenile home (rehabilitation centre) in Faridabad.
Inspector Kailash Devi, SHO of the women police station, said that the juvenile accused was arrested from a friend’splace at the same village where he was hiding.
“The accused, who hails from West Bengal, had come to stay with his mother for 15 days during Ramzan. He works as a labourer in Kerala and arrived in Gurgaon recently,” Devi said.
His house is right adjacent to the victim’s and he called over ‘to play’ on Saturday and then sexually abused her, the police said.
On returning home, the girl narrated the incident to her parents.
“The parents were initially apprehensive about registering a complaint. However, they did file a complaint around 11.30pm on Monday night,” Devi said.
After getting word of the incident, the police rushed to the spot and began searching for the accused. They formed multiple teams and finally nabbed the juvenile from his friend’s place.
The accused has been charged under section 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
