The police have arrested a 58-year-old carpenter for allegedly sexually assaulting a four-year-old mute dalit girl in Sohna.

The accused, Jagdish, who allegedly lured the minor victim to his house by offering sweets, has been sent to Bhondsi jail after being produced before a court here, police said on Thursday.
The incident, according to the police, took place on Tuesday in Ghangola village of Sohna where the families of victim and the accused live, police said.

Jagdish, police said, lured the girl, when she was playing outside her house. Jagdish, who lives with his wife and son, was alone at his house, when he tempted the victim to his house.
“He assaulted her inside his house when his wife and son were out,” said a police spokesperson adding that Jagdish has a married daughter.
The girl’s mother, a labourer, after she went missing, searched her and spotted her coming out of Jagdish’s house.
The victim after sharing the ordeal with her mother was taken to a hospital where she was discharged after treatment. The mother lodged a complaint at Sohna police station. Consequently, an FIR was registered against the accused Jagdish under Section 6 (penetrative sexual assault) of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POSCO) Act and sections the SC-ST Act at Sohna police station.
“After lodging an FIR, the accused has been sent to jail,” said Inspector Mukesh Kumar, station house officer, Sohna.
On October 26, a 19-year-old man was arrested for allegedly raping a minor girl thrice in one month. The accused, Harender, who lived in Sheetla Mata colony, also threatened the 15-year-old girl that he will make her objectionable pictures and videos public.
On September 20, the police arrested a 32-year-old man for raping and killing a six-year-old girl in Sector 92.
