Police, however, suspect that Mohit Yadav (21), Yadav son, had a key role in his father’s murder as the duo had a lot of differences and did not agree with each other on most things. Police said Mohit has a criminal history and was booked in murder case but was acquitted in that case.

Mohit Yadav’s left home soon after his father’s murder and that led to questions being raised about his role in the crime. Sources in the police said although the Yadav family was affluent, they were concerned Mohit as he had fallen into bad company. He was also not working and spent most of the time with his friends which was a point of constant friction with his father, police said.

According to police, Yadav was shot around 3.45am with a countrymade firearm.

Yadav’s wife Sunita found his body lying in a pool of blood in an adjacent bedroom around 5am. The family members claimed they did not hear any gunshot. It was only when Sunita entered the room that she found Yadav lying dead.

A neighbour informed the police control room an hour later. A team of policemen along with forensic experts rushed to the spot and gathered evidence from the spot.

Police said Yadav’s body was found on the bed with a single bullet wound to his head. At the time of the murder, Yadav’s son, wife and mother were present at the house but his son has disappeared after the incident. The police did not find any firearm at the spot but have recovered a spent 9mm cartridge.

DLF Phase 2 SHO Sudeep Kumar said things would be more clear once Mohit’s statement is recorded.

While a property dispute has not been ruled out by police, sources said Yadav had marital issues and that led to frequent arguments with his son.

A case against unknown persons was registered as family members have not named anyone in the FIR. The police said the role of everyone close to Yadav, including that of his son, is being probed.

“A case of murder has been registered and the matter is being probed from all angles,” Kumar said.
