In a meeting with the residents’ welfare association of Sector 15 (Part 2) on Monday, the estate officer-1 of Haryana Urban Development Authority discussed the civic issues plaguing the sector and sought status reports as soon as possible.

The estate officer (EO) discussed the status of water supply, sewage system and stormwater drains in the sector. Other issues that were discussed included the condition of parks and green belts, security arrangements, sanitation, construction of roads, and drainage.

The EO assured the residents that rainwater harvesting systems would be reviewed within a week and immediate action would be taken on the other issues as well.

“We proposed widening of footpaths, beautification of the green belts and putting tiles along the lanes in the parks. The sub-divisional officer has been instructed to look into the matter,” said Raja Ram, president, RWA.

Ram said that sanitation was a major concern as it had not been addressed by the authorities for a long time.

According to colonel (retired) Ratan Singh, president, Joint Action Forum of Residents’ Associations, who presided over the meeting, “Cleanliness within the sector is the most important issue as the situation has been bad for long.”

Regarding the security situation in the sector, the EO suggested that the RWA discuss the matter with the police. The issue of encroachment and rapidly increasing paying guest accommodations was also taken up.
