Residents of Uniworld Gardens-1 on Sohna Road are facing a tough task to enter their condominium due to the encroachment of the service lane adjoining their society, which is also a designated green belt.
The land outside Uniworld Garden is green belt owned by the Haryana Urban Development Authority (Huda). Residents said that in the last couple of years, there has been an extensive encroachment of the green belt.
Residents said that authorities concerned have failed to address the issue despite repeated complaints. Several shops, including a real estate office, medical and grocery shops, are constructed on the green belt.
“There is an automobile workshop, a bike repair shop, a dhaaba, a tea shop, two property dealer offices, one pharmacy, an electronics repair shop, a florist and a temple, all illegally set up on the Huda land. These open onto the service lane, thereby blocking traffic on the busy Sohna Road. Most people visiting these shops park their vehicles in front of the complex, thereby blocking the access to our society,” Nirlept Singh, the president of Uniworld Gardens RWA, said.
“Those running the automobile repair shop park cars on a piece of Huda land adjoining the workshop and they have been extending the workshop on a regular basis,” Singh said.
Rakesh Johar, a senior citizen and a resident of the condominium, said, “Only we have such a pathetic entrance (of all residential societies) on Sohna Road and in my view, all illegal structures should be removed. On our side of Sohna Road, these are the only illegal shops that still remain.Besides being an eyesore, it causes a lot of inconveniences. One can’t even walk to the mall next door,” said.
Ashish Shukla, another resident, said, “It’s impossible for women and children to venture outside the complex due to safety concerns.”
Residents said that Huda must hand over the green belt to the RWA for its maintenance and upkeep.
Yashpal Yadav, Huda administrator, said, “The matter has come to our notice and we will take necessary action.”
