Three days after Geetanjali, wife of Gurgaon chief judicial magistrate Ravneet Garg, was found dead under mysterious conditions, the police lodged an FIR against the judge and his family on the complaint of the victim’s brother.
The body of Geetanjali, 28, was found with three bullet injuries and Garg’s licenced revolver was found nearby on Wednesday, police said.
Geetanjali’s father Om Prakash Aggarwal said, “My daughter’s in-laws wanted a son. The couple already have two daughters (aged 4.5 and three years) but Geetanjali’s family wanted her to go for a third child and undergo a sex determination test. Geetanjali was under stress because of this.”
He added that the victim had lost 14kg weight in four months and she had discussed the problem with her sisters.
Meanwhile, the Aggarwal family and residents of Sector 5 in Panchkula, where the deceased’s parents live, took out a protest march on Saturday to demand justice for Geetanjali, an alumni of Army Public School in Ambala.
Accusing the police of trying to dub the case as that of suicide, the victim’s family has been demanding a CBI inquiry in the mystery death.
Geetanjali’s sister-in-law Sarita Aggarwal said only a CBI probe could bring justice for Geetanjali. “Ravneet has been saying it is suicide.
The family has been changing statements. Geetanjali’s relations with her in-laws were not good. She was treated badly and had even complained to us,” she said. The Aggarwal family also alleged that they were not being allowed to meet their granddaughters.
