The city is expected to receive a light drizzle on Monday, which will bring down the temperature and provide relief to residents, according to officials of India Meteorological Department (IMD). The city witnessed light shower on Saturday as well.
IMD officials said that there is also a possibility of a dust storm and thundershowers on Monday.
The maximum temperature recorded on Sunday was 41.4 degrees Celsius, an increase of over one degree Celsius, from the maximum temperature of 40.4 degrees Celsius recorded on Saturday.
The temperature remained pleasant on Sunday morning, as it hovered around 26 degrees Celsius. However, the temperature increased in the afternoon.
The minimum temperature recorded on Sunday was 26.3 degrees, a three-degree Celsius drop from Saturday’s minimum temperature of 29.5 degrees Celsius.
The temperature had dipped following light showers on Saturday, but with no further imminent sign of rainfall, the temperatures increased in the evening hours of Sunday.
However, temperatures are expected to drop to 39 degrees Celsius on Monday, as a thunderstorm is expected to hit the city, IMD officials said.
According to the Met department, there is a possibility of NCR residents receiving scattered rainfall till Tuesday.
“NCR residents can expect a partly cloudy sky on Monday and there is also a possibility of a thunder development with lightning. The maximum temperature that is expected to be recorded on Monday is 39 degrees Celsius,” an IMD official said.
Leena Kar of DLF Phase-1 said, “It was nice to go for a morning walk on Sunday because of the pleasant climate. The thunderstorm from last night helped bring down the temperature a bit, so it was pleasant in the morning. The temperature wasn’t too high. It was comfortable. It was definitely not as hot on Sunday as it was throughout the last week.”
