The Gurgaon police on Wednesday arrested a third person allegedly involved in the case in which a young man from Uttarakhand was pushed to his death from the fifth floor of his paying guest (PG) accommodation.

The arrested accused, Farooq, from UP, was a caretaker at the PG accommodation in DLF Phase 3 where the incident took place. He was produced in the court on Thursday and sent to judicial custody.

An official of the DLF Phase 2 police station confirmed the arrest of Farooq from Gurgaon. Farooq is the third person to be arrested in the case.

The victim, Ramesh Singh Bisht, had come to Gurgaon along with 15-20 other men for a hotel management course from a vocational training institute under the Prime Minister’s Skill Development Scheme. The incident took place last Wednesday night, when an argument over lack of amenities turned fatal and Bisht was allegedly pushed off the balcony by the owner.

The owner, prime accused Satbir Singh, and his sons Rahul and Rohit are still at large. Police said they will also be nabbed soon. A day after the incident, police had arrested Sushil and Shish Ram who were involved in running the PG.

On the day of the incident, there were around 50 outstation students who were staying in the PG accommodation.

Bisht’s roommates and fellow students from Uttarakhand said there were frequent arguments at the PG with owners over issues such as water and electricity, and they were often at the receiving end of abuse.
