The police have formed teams to arrest four men accused of killing a murder convict in Khentawas village of Pataudi on Thursday.
The convict, identified as Yogesh Yadav of Khalilpur, was hacked to death with an axe and other weapons on Thursday around 8pm. He was serving a prison term for the murder of a youth, Ravi, and was out on parole since Sunday, the police said.
According to the police, Yadav was waylaid by four men — Ravi, Pradeep, Vikas and Munna — in a car while he was going to Khentawas where he owns land.
They allegedly rammed Yadav’s motorcycle from behind, causing him to lose control and fall. They then hacked him with an axe and other weapons. The victim sustained nine deep gashes on his head and neck and died of excessive bleeding, the police said.
“Yadav was involved in the murder of Rahul, Ravi’s brother. The other accused are related to one another and belong to Khalilpur. Police teams are working on various leads and the culprits will be arrested soon,” said Tanya Singh, ACP, Pataudi. The four, however, do not have a criminal record, the police said.
The police said on August 4, 2013, Yadav and five others had killed Rahul. They were convicted of murder by the court and awarded a life sentence. Of the six serving life terms, Yadav and Vinod Kumar had come out on parole on Sunday. Kumar is safe, the police said.
Kumar was killed by his relatives to avenge Rahul’s death,” a police officer said.
A case of murder has been registered on the complaint of Yadav’s wife Manju.
