After receiving several complaints against the office bearers of various resident welfare associations (RWAs) in the city, the district registrar of societies has warned of action against them if they do not adhere to norms of the Haryana Registration and Regulation Act.
Residents of several posh localities have complained against members of their respective RWAs, saying that they are misusing their executive power. The residents accused the RWAs of misappropriation of society funds and not holding elections within stipulated time period.
“Majority of the RWAs in Gurgaon are flouting norms. We have given them six months’ time to mend their ways. They will have to follow the new rules and register with us afresh latest by September 28. After that, we will take action against the violators,” said Hardyal Sehrawat, district registrar of societies.
RWAs of group housing societies, against whom voices have been raised, include Valley View Estate on Gurgaon-Faridabad road, Kendriya Vihar in Sector 56, Karmyogi society in Sector 10 and Silver Oak in DLF-1.
