Unidentified men broke into a Sector 46 house on Wednesday afternoon taking advantage of the absence of the house owners. A case of theft has been registered at the Sector 50 police station on Wednesday evening.

Two laptops, one DSLR camera, one wrist watch, Rs 8000 cash and gold ear rings were stolen from the house.

The house Neeraj Sheoran, a software engineer, and his wife Nidhi, who also works in a software company, were away at work at the time of the incident.

“The theft was discovered by Sheroan’s relatives who came in the afternoon after picking the couple’s daughter from school. The main door was broke open with a brick and the apartment was ransacked,” said the complainant. The house is located on the ground floor of a three-storeyed building in Sector 46.

The family members said they leave the house around 10am and drop their daughter at a play school before going to office. Their daughter is picked by grandparents in the afternoon and brought to the apartment and they stay with the children till evening. However, on Wednesday, after finding the house ransacked, the parents called Neeraj and alerted him about the incident.

A personnel at the sector 50 police station said a case has been registered and matter is being probed. Police suspect that the theft could be the handiwork of someone who knew the routine of the couple and was aware that no one would return to the house till late afternoon.
