A case was registered at Shivaji Nagar police station against the two accused, who had demanded Rs 50,000 from the shopkeeper. The police has also obtained the CCTV camera footage of the incident, and is probing the matter.
As per the police, two youth came to Guglani’s shop at 6 am and one of them pointed a country made pistol on him demanded Rs 50,000 from them. Soon after another youth with a pistol entered and started threatening him. Guglani told the robbers that he did not have the money and asked the youth to leave him but they refused to leave. Even as arguments were going on between them, the shop owner suddenly pounced upon one of the assailants, and managed to snatch the weapon. In the melee, the two robbers managed to flee from the spot but they were forced to leave their bike on the spot.
Ravinder Kumar, PRO, Gurgaon police said that the police reached the spot immediately after it was informed about the incident and the probe has been ordered. “A country made pistol, a Yellow coloured Apache motorbike has been recovered from the spot. The accused fled on feet and the police has procured CCTV footage from the store as well as nearby areas to identify the accused”, he said. The motorcycle bears a Karnataka registration number and it suspected that it might have been stolen.
The police also said that the two criminals were aware of Guglani’s daily routine and knew that there would be very few people at this time in his shop. It is likely that they were locals, said Kumar.
