An honest attempt by the traffic police to decongest a stretch on the old Delhi-Gurgaon road has earned appreciation from the local residents.
The Gurgaon traffic police was quick to share the letter of appreciation from the residents on their Twitter handle. “Traffic Problem solved opposite Sector 12 Gurgaon telephone exchange. Residents thank Gurgaon Traffic Police (sic),” the traffic police tweeted with a picture of the letter.
For quite some time, the residents and shopkeepers around telephone exchange in front of Country Inn and Suites on old Delhi-Gurgaon road had been suffering from traffic snarls especially in morning and evening peak hours.
After the residents approached deputy commissioner of police, (DCP) Traffic, the authorities removed the cut in the median on the road which has helped decongest traffic on the stretch.
“Not even five cops were able to regulate traffic as vehicles would move in every direction possible. It was a free for all. Now, the police have removed the cut and no one is able to drive on the wrong side blocking the way. The U-turn made in the process has regulated traffic,” said Pawan Sharma, a resident and a signatory to the appreciation letter.
The resident and shopkeepers around the busy stretch of the road wrote to DCP, Traffic, thanking him for quick intervention.
“We, the local residents and shopkeepers of old Delhi-Gurgaon, near sector 12, telephone exchange, would like to thank you and your RSO team for closing the cut in the median which has helped a lot to decongest this area. The traffic is running smooth here now,” said the letter.
