Haryana minister of state for sports and youth affairs Sukhbir Kataria on Sunday met the family of the 75-year-old former telecom engineer and yoga instructor who died after being hit by a car on February 11.
Gaindan Lal Saxena died after a car hit him from behind near Medanta-The Medicity Hospital.
The victim’s son Sanjeev Saxena has accused the Gurgaon police of tinkering with the circumstantial evidences to weaken the case against the person who was driving the car. But on Sunday, Sanjeev’s mother Mithlesh Saxena said the minister has assured her of justice.
“When I raised the issue of police high handedness, the minister said he will look into the matter and ensure justice,” she said.
Earlier, Sanjeev had alleged that the police have covered up major facts that could have led to the prosecution of the accused.
The FIR has been registered against some unknown person, but according to news reports and eyewitnesses, the youth behind the steering wheel of the car was detained by the police and was later released. The police have rejected the allegations.
Sanjeev, meanwhile, has also started a campaign, “Justice for GL Saxena”, through online social network Facebook to garner public support for a fair investigation in the case.
