Helpline for complaints against cops

The city police on Friday launched a dedicated helpline (9999999953) to register complaints against erring police officials. The calls would be routed to the police commissioner’s office and it will then take up the matter with the concerned police station or official.

“The number will people in distress track the status of their complaint. The queries would be addressed the same day” said Gurgaon police commissioner, Alok Mittal.

He had announced the helpline number launch on Wednesday — the first he took charge as the top cop.
The helpline number, functional from 10am to 4pm, will benefit people who have to visit police stations frequently to check updates on complaints or FIRs.
