The Haryana urban development authority (Huda) said it will hand over the plot to the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) soon, as it has resolved the dispute with the owner of petrol pump that was hampering construction of the underpass at Mehrauli-Gurgaon Road.
“Court matter, land dispute and other issues with the petrol pump owner has been settled now and we will soon hand over the land to the NHAI to complete construction of the underpass. The owner of the petrol pump has been allotted alternative plot,” Vivek Kalia, estate officer (EO) Huda II, said.
The Huda had missed several deadlines earlier.
The construction of underpass was hampered in small portion which was occupied by the petrol pump for over seven months.
However, the NHAI is still worried as no official communication has been made in this regard from the Huda office. The petrol pump is falling in alignment of the underpass – located left side on MG Road if heading towards Sikandarpur from Iffco Chowk.
Ashok Sharma, project director (PD), NHAI, said, “We have verbal communication from Huda office that the matter has been resolved and petrol pump will soon go away, but we can only confirm once we get a letter from their end.”
“We were in regular touch with the chief administrator, Huda office, in this regard and matter is resolved now. We got a nod from the head office and we will soon hand over the land to the NHAI,” Yashpal Yadav, administrator, Huda, Gurgaon, said.
The NHAI is constructing an L-shape underpass for commuters coming from sectors 4, 45, 47, Huda City Centre, Iffco Chowk Metro Station towards Delhi via MG Road near ABW Tower. The underpass will save commuters precious travel time. At present, commuters are routinely stranded in massive and perennial traffic jam at Iffco Chowk.
The L-shaped underpass, elevated U-turns and an additional elevated road that the NHAI is building are all tipped to decongest the busy Iffco Chowk junction.
