Gurgaon’s four petrol pumps - learnt to have been owned and run by politicians and bigwigs - face sealing due to non-payment of rent to the Haryana Urban Development Authority (Huda) as per the lease agreement for allotment of land.
According to Huda officials, the owners of these petrol pumps have been declared defaulter on the ground of non-payment of monthly rent for years and ignoring repeated reminders.
Of the four petrol pumps, the one in Sector 12-A belongs to Hindustan Petroleum (HP) while other three, at Sector 9-A, Sector 18 and Sector 37-II, belong to the Indian Oil Corporation (IOC).
Together the four pumps owe nearly R7 crore to Huda, which had earlier sent a notice asking them to deposit the money by March 31.
“They deserve the sealing order. Their assets should be attached at the earliest and selling of fuel be stopped,” stated the order of the Huda chief administrator DPS Nagal.
On April 4, the estate officer (EO-1) Huda, Narender Singh Yadav, already ordered sealing of these petrol pumps.
“I have already issued the order of sealing. Latest by Wednesday, all the four petrol pumps will be sealed as they have already crossed the deadline,” Yadav said.
He said the petrol pump operators have failed to adhere to Huda’s notice and repeated reminders to pay the dues. The HPCL’s petrol pump at Sector 18 awes the highest amount up to R2.45 core. The owner of Sector 9-A petrol pump has to pay R1.13 crore, while the fuel station at Sector 37-II owes R2.35 crore. The facility at Sector 12-A has to pay about R1 crore.
The HPCL and IOCL too have been informed, said the official.
