A month after 23-year-old trainee software engineer Cincy Sebastian was stabbed to death at her paying guest accommodation in DLF City (Phase 3), the police on Friday arrested the cab driver of an Udyog Vihar company.
Identified as Mukesh Kumar Shah, 26, the accused is a native of West Bengal and used to live in Nathupur village, from where he was nabbed.
Shah used to pick and drop the victim.
The police suspect it to be a case of unrequited love. For the last six months, Shah had been making advances but Sebastian turned them down.
Her growing fondness for a colleague added fuel to the fire and that prompted Shah to kill her. Sebastian, who hailed from Kerala, was spotted in a pool of blood by the landlady and the victim’s aunt on January 11.
Shah had come to pick her in the morning but entered the house and stabbed her in the back thrice. He later went back to the company and said Sebastian did not take the cab.
The police had recovered a six-inch long knife from the spot and found that it was purchased for Rs 50 by the accused.
The victim’s mother is a nurse and her father works with a private company in Kerala.
