Kin of auto driver killed in crane crash demand compensation

A day after an autorickshaw driver was killed and a passenger was injured after a part of a crane fell on the vehicle near Hero Honda Chowk, relatives of the deceased driver has demanded action against the company whose crane was deployed for flyover construction. They have also sought a compensation from the district administration.
The deceased was identified as Sachin Sanotiya and the injured as Abhishek Malik, who works at ICICI Bank.
“My brother was just 34 years old and was the only bread winner of his family. He was married and had a 10-year-old son. We demand action against the agency as it is at fault. It is the responsibility of the government to provide a support to his family,” said Ruchi, Sanotiya’s sister, who died in the incident.
Though they were rushed to nearby Ayushman Hospital, Dr Aman Chauhan, who treated them, said the autorickshaw driver was brought dead to the hospital.
“We did the needful to treat the patient. The auto was completely crushed after the crane fell on it,” Chauhan said.
Meanwhile, police are still trying to nab the crane operator. Yashwant Yadav, SHO of Kherki Dhaula police station, said, “We have sent our teams in search of the driver who is absconding. Investigation is still on in the case. We have also filed a complaint against the agency whose crane was being used in the construction work.”
A case has been lodged by the Kherki Daula police station under sections 304 A (causing death by negligence), 337 (causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others), 338 (causing grievous hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others) of the Indian Penal Code.
