A laptop, power bank, data card and a mobile charger were stolen from a car parked outside DT Mega Mall in DLF Phase 1, Gurgaon
As theft cases are on the rise in the city, the Gurgaon police has issued an advisory asking people to be more careful and not leave their belongings unintended in cars parked along the roads. This came after the police received several complaints that gangs have been targeting vehicles near malls, breaking the windows and making off with valuables, such as laptops, kept inside the vehicle.
In one such instance, a case was registered after an unidentified person stole a laptop, power bank, data card and a mobile charger from a car parked outside DT Mega Mall in DLF Phase 1.
Complainant Sandeep Soni, a resident of Jaipur, Rajasthan, said he visited DT Mega Mall in his Honda Amaze sedan around 7pm last Wednesday and he parked his car outside the mall. He was inside the mall for an hour and a half, during which time his laptop and other items were stolen from the car.
Upon returning to his vehicle, he found the car window broken and his Lenovo laptop, power bank, mobile charger stolen.
A case under Section 379 (for theft) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been lodged at the DLF Phase 1 Police station on Monday.
“We have gathered all information regarding the case and have filed a FIR. We have been advising people not to park their vehicles along the road as cases of theft have increased. Images from nearby CCTV cameras might shed some light on this case. We are trying to nab the gang behind these crimes,” said assistance sub-inspector Rishipal of DLF Phase-1 police station.
