Most of the class 12 students who appeared for the CBSE board exam on Thursday said the business studies paper was difficult and lengthy.

A number of students complained that they were unable to complete the paper on time and had to leave it midway.

“The exam was tricky and extremely time consuming. There were a number of case studies and three hours were not enough for solving the paper,” said Rohan Bhatia, a student of DPS, Sector 45 .

Parents said they saw many students who were upset because they could not complete the paper in time.

“The paper was very lengthy and there were a number of indirect questions. I saw a lot of students disappointed and a few were even crying,” said Bhavna Kalra of Gurgaon.

Though a majority said the exam was tricky and time consuming, some students said that they were expecting a different pattern this year.

“The pattern of the question paper was the same as we had expected. Questions were indirect and were a little tricky,” said Ashrit Sethi of Suncity School.

Another student Gyaneshwari of Rotary Public School agreed and said, “The paper was balanced. There were a few indirect questions and case studies. However, it was manageable for me since I was thorough with the concepts.”

Teachers also agreed with the students and said that the paper was tricky. “The paper was difficult for students who did not have a proper understanding of the concepts. It was indeed a lengthy paper but time management is a major component in each examinations. In our school, the students were given a lot of training to attend lengthy exam papers,” said Roopali, a business studies teacher in DAV Public School, Sector 14.
