Deputy commissioner PC Meena on Saturday directed all officers concerned and the public at large to maintain status quo in the restricted zone of 900-metre radius around the Indian Air Force Station ammunition depot on Old Delhi Road.
Complying with the orders of the Supreme Court and Punjab and Haryana High Court, Meena said, “In this restricted area, all new constructions henceforth will be undertaken strictly in compliance with the provisions of law. Constructions which don’t confirm to the requirements of law shall not be proceeded with any further. However, there shall be no demolition of such constructions whatever the stage the same may have reached as on February 10, 2012.”
Meena said as per the directions of the court, if any person was found raising construction despite the status quo orders, he would be booked for contempt of court.
He said, “If a neighbour is found providing power supply for taking up illegal constructions in the area, he will also be treated as an offender and his electricity connection will be disconnected.”
Officers of the town and country planning department, hydrologist, police and municipal corporation will carry out joint inspections at least twice a week to check illegal digging up of new borewells in the restricted area. “Such illegal borewells will be sealed and cases will be registered against the violators under the Water Act,” Meena said.
