A man has filed a case against his estranged wife, her parents and a sister accusing them of duping Rs22 lakh.
SK Dhupar, a resident of Sushant Lok, who has been booked in a dowry case lodged by her wife with DLF Phase 2 police station, moved a local court alleging that her in-laws had fraudulently withdrawn Rs10 lakh from the couple’s joint bank account and also withdrawn jewellery worth Rs12 lakh from their bank locker.
The fraud case was lodged on Thursday against Dhupar’s wife, her parents and a sister at Sector 29 police station following an order of the court.
The couple has already applied for divorce. “It seems to be a family dispute. However, we will take action as per the law,” said a police official.
According to the police, Dhupar’s wife had left him and moved to her parents’ home in DLF Phase 3 in January this year. She had a joint account with Dhupar and a locker in HDCF Bank branch in DLF Phase 4.
After moving to her parents’ home, she withdrew the jewellery worth Rs12 lakh from their bank locker. The complainant also alleged that his wife withdrew Rs10 lakh from the joint account with the help of two forged cheques, the police said.
“We have registered the case against four people after the court instructions and are investigating the matter,” said Jagdish Prashad, station house officer, Sector 29 police station.
Meanwhile, a Delhi court has said a man is obliged to accord due respect to his wife in society, dismissing the anticipatory bail plea of a Haryana Police constable who has been accused of harassing his spouse.
Additional Sessions Judge SC Rajan rejected the bail plea of Satish Kumar, a constable in Haryana Police, against whom his wife had registered a complaint of harassment for dowry.
