Man injured in Manesar kiosk fire in Gurugram, dead
The family members on Tuesday recorded and circulated a video on social media, alleging that the police did not allow the family members to record his last confession, during which he identified the accused.
Eleven days after being admitted to Safdarjung hospital for 80% burn injuries, a 58-year-old shopkeeper succumbed to his injuries on Monday. The police have added section 302 (murder) of the IPC to the FIR, said the police.
The police, on May 6, had arrested Kanhaiya, a tempo driver, for allegedly setting the victim, Abdul, on fire in Sector 7 of IMT-Manesar on May 4.

“The official had shown the victim a photograph of the accused and has asked him to identify him. He was putting pressure on him to identify the accused carefully as it was a question of someone’s life. However, the victim he told him that he can never forget his face,” Mohammad Fahim, a relative of the deceased, said, adding that the deceased alleged that he was targeted as he was a Muslim. The police, however, have denied both the allegations.
The police said the investigating official had recorded the statement and it has been mentioned in the official document. “We had arrested the accused within 24 hours and he has confessed to the crime,” said Rajesh Kumar, DCP(Manesar).
The family members carried out the final rites in Bihar on Tuesday and are now demanding compensation for the victim’s death, as he was the sole bread- winner of the family.
