MCG to launch autorickshaw app ahead of Diwali
The Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon has planned to launch its official mobile application and the G-Auto application before Diwali
In order to facilitate the city’s residents, the Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG) has planned to launch its official mobile application and the G-Auto application before Diwali. The technical wing is reviewing these apps presently.
The apps were scheduled to be launched in September, but that could not be done because of some procedural delays. The two apps will be available with all their respective features after launch.
The Nirmal Foundation, a non-profit organisation that has been running the G-Auto service in Ahmedabad, had signed an agreement with the MCG to start the service in Gurgaon as well.
It has developed the app with all features required for hiring an autorickshaw. With the help of the test version of the app, available on android phones, the foundation has succeeded in taking 150 bookings a day. Around 200 such autorickshaws have already started running in the city as part of the trial phase.
“We were planning to launch the service in September, but could not do so because of some issues that cropped up. Now the time has come for its formal launch,” said Nirmal Kumar, managing director of the foundation.
The MCG app, on the other hand, will be available on both android and iOS operating systems. It will provide services like birth and death certificate provisions, house tax payment, change of name in land records, no dues certificate, marriage certificate, RTI application and trade licence.
“Although test versions of the apps are already available, more features are being added. For the G-Auto app, a formal launch has been planned before Diwali so that people have the option of getting good transportation on the festival,” said Vikas Gupta, commissioner, MCG.
