The Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG) has said that legal action will be taken against persons who are found flouting its outdoor advertisement policy.

MCG commissioner Ashok Sangwan on Saturday ordered to lodge FIR against the violators. Sangwan asked MCG joint commissioner Anju Chaudhary to take stringent action against those advertisements that were erected in contravention of the rules and came without obtaining permission from the corporation.

In April last year, the MCG had awarded tenders for as many as 72 unipoles along the Gurgaon expressway and highways at the rate R100-R120 per square feet -- depending on the commercial value of location.

The order of the commissioner has come a month after the Punjab and Haryana High Court rapped the corporation over unipoles being a commuting hazard and sought an affidavit regarding action taken.

The MCG in its affidavit claimed it removed several unipoles, wall wraps and posters in the past few months along the highways and the expressway.

“We cannot reveal anything about the modified outdoor advertisement policy,” said Chaudhary.
