In a gruesome incident, a two-wheeler mechanic killed his wife and two daughters, aged 5 and 8, before hanging himself in his rented accommodation in Surat Nagar, Gurgaon.

The murder came to light after area residents informed the police about stench coming from the flat.

The highly-decomposed bodies of Anand Prakash, 35, a native of Baghpat in UP, his daughters Bulbul and Priya, and wife Laxmi were recovered on Friday. The wife used to work with an export firm. The police suspect that the incident took place on Sunday. According to the police, there was a dispute between couple over the wife's job.

When the police broke open the door, they found Prakash hanging from a ceiling fan, Bulbul and Priya were lying in a pool of blood on the bed, while Laxmi's body was found near the door. http://www.hindustantimes.com/Images/Popup/2012/4/21_04_pg4c.jpg

It is suspected that Prakash killed his family with a dagger and later slit his throat. The weapon used in the crime was also recovered from the room. Neighbours alleged that Prakash suspected his wife of having an extra-marital affair and this lead to frequent fights between them.

“Prakash wanted his wife to quit her job but she was not willing to do that. This had enraged the husband,” said a neighbour.

“Anand informed us on Sunday that he was going to his village along with his family to attend a marriage. He said that he would be back after a week. It was a planned murder,” said Lal Bahadur Paswan, another resident.

“The bodies were found in a highly decomposed state. The man killed his wife and daughters with a dagger, which was recovered from the room. No suicide note was found. The bodies have been sent to the civil hospital and post-mortem would be conducted tomorrow. A probe is on in the case,” said SHO Amarjeet Kataria.

Prakash's family has been informed about the incident.
