A 47-year-old Nigerian architect was assaulted by unidentified persons on Saturday evening over a property dispute.

The victim, Raphual Okanu, suffered minor injuries and was rushed to hospital from where he was discharged after first-aid. According to the police, Okanu had been living in DLF City (Phase 2) for the last two years with his Indian wife.

He allegedly had a dispute with some persons who claimed to have bought the house and asked him to vacate it.

“The accused asked the Nigerian to vacate the house as they had purchased it. They even claimed that Okanu was living illegally in the country. The property dispute led to a heated argument between them and they hit the architect. Okanu's face was badly injured,” said the investigation officer.

The two parties had earlier approached the police commissioner in this regard. The matter is now in court, the police officer added.

“We had taken Okanu to the civil hospital for a medical examination. We have filed a case against the accused under Section 506 of the IPC. We are investigating the matter and the accused will be arrested soon,” said the official.
