The city will not get water supply on January 27 and January 28 as the Haryana Urban Development Authority (Huda) will conduct major repair works on the master water pipeline at the Basai water treatment plant.
This is the 11th incident of pipeline burst in less than a year.
Areas of Sushant Lok phases 1 and 2, DLF City phase 1-4, Cyber City, Cyber Hub, sectors 14-18, 21-23, 23A, 31, 32, 40, Sheetla Colony, Signature Tower, South City 1, Jharsa, Palam Vihar, Sirhaul, Dundahera and localities along Golf Course Road will be affected.
However, the repairs will not affect gated colonies as they mostly use ground water and not Huda’s treated water supplied from the Basai plant.
Huda has announced the repair work after a leakage was spotted on January 14 in the master water supply line near the Basai flyover and in Sector 10. The officials said that the supply will be shut late at night on January 27.
“There are two leakages in the 4km-long master supply pipeline that starts from the Basai water treatment plant. The pipeline had become weak because of the pressure and required urgent attention. However, the repair work was stalled till now as a high-tension wire above the pipeline had to be shifted,” said Vijender Mallik, sub-divisional officer, Huda.
Meanwhile, the authority has asked residents to store water adequately. Huda administrator Anita Yadav has advised residents to use water judiciously, so that they do not have to face acute shortage on the two days.
