The Haryana Transport Department on Saturday announced the launch of an e-payment service for road tax and an SMS-based acknowledgment facility.
The announcement was by the Haryana transport commissioner, Sumita Misra, while addressing a one-day workshop-cum-training programme organized by the Department for the Secretaries of Regional Transport Authorities (RTAs) and their staff regarding implementation of the Vahan and Saarthi software, and e-services.
Mishra said softwares Vahan and Saarthi have been implemented at all 79 registering and licensing authorities in the state. The additional services available in these softwares would now also be provided by the registering and licensing authorities.
Under the e-payment service, motor vehicle owners would be able to pay the quarterly road tax through the department’s website using their State Bank of India (SBI) internet banking account. With the launch of the SMS facility, citizens who deposit any fee or tax in the offices of registering and licensing authorities for obtaining various services would be receive an SMS acknowledging receipt of the amount.
To avail the benefits of this facility, citizens would be required to mention their mobile number on the application form submitted in the offices for this purpose.
The department has also prepared its website — haryanatransport.gov.in — which offers informational and functional services to citizens. Residents can browse the website to know about procedures for registration of motor vehicles, issue of driving licenses and grant of permit.
Various types of forms required for obtaining services from the transport department will be available for download.
