The Haryana Urban Development Authority (Huda) and Gurgaon expressway operator, Delhi-Gurgaon Super Connectivity Limited (DGSCL), have locked horns over the perennial problem of waterlogging at Hero Honda Chowk.
Officials of both departments exchanged heated arguments on Wednesday night after motors installed by DGSCL failed to drain out the rainwater. “We got our own high-power motors finally and sought manpower help from DGSCL but they failed to do so. None of their officials visited the site despite our repeated calls since Wednesday morning,” said a HUDA official, who was present at the site from 12.30pm and worked till late night to solve the waterlogging problem.
The expressway concessionaire, however, told Hindustan Times that they had been already been “doing the needful” and the problem lies on part of the local civic bodies.
“Our motors are already working since waterlogging is so severe at Hero Honda Chowk. But we need a bigger solution and that is in the local bodies' domain,” said a spokesperson.
Meanwhile, officials who have been working at Hero Honda Chowk apprised HUDA administrator Praveen Kumar of the problems they faced due to the non-cooperative attitude of DGSCL.
An official told HT that the problem has not been solved permanently and the roads will get waterlogged if it rains.
